We three sisters (Bobbe, Gee Gee and Penny) won't be able to attend the opening reception, but will see the exhibit early in June, as the last leg in an extended family and fiber excursion to Minneapolis (for "In the face of hate, we resist" at the Textile Center and other venues), Grand Rapids MI, Louisville KY (a short drive from New Albany,) and then home. Gee Gee has organized meetups and meals with family and old friends throughout the trip. We are getting pretty excited already. Bought shoes! Planning wardrobe! Scheduling haircuts!
Before we leave I will send Flyover 8--Pathways to SAQA for inclusion in "Primal Forces--Earth" which will open at the National Quilt Museum in Paducah KY in September. There might be another trip to see this; we're not sure.
And in the meantime, much construction at my house. As a result of the Polar Vortex in February, we had rain in the kitchen as old pipes in the attic burst. Several days without power or water and temps in the 40s--but we had candles, blankets and a cat, so survived intact. Emergency plumbing repair revealed that the 1955-era plumbing was pretty well clogged and deteriorated. Thus, repiping, new drywall in the kitchen ceiling, a redo of the irrigation system, and so on. It will be great when completed. For now,, the kitchen stuff is in my studio as well as the dining room, and we're eating out a lot. But all the workers are sweet, progress is being made, and our nearby family invites us to dinner two blocks away. Life is very good, though disorganized.
