Then my son suggested moving the laundry to the studio bathroom, which had a tub/shower we don't use. We measured--it could work. I thought, "One of these days . . ." I consulted Wayne, my favorite friend/contractor, who agreed it could be done. He was going to repair some rotted woodwork on the exterior of the house, and when he finished, he just calmly started the demolition in the bathroom. Suddenly, it was too late to change my mind.
We are in week three of construction now. Tub is gone. The washer and dryer will probably move next week. The granite guy came over today to measure for replacement for the formica, and I'll visit the granite yard tomorrow to look at stone. Wayne is ready to start the carpentry for drawers under the new counter where the appliances now stand. A long butcher block counter has been ordered ("character cherry"). It should be beautiful, functional and up to date.
Then I bought one. It is red.
I don't know whether I'm going mad, or just tired of postponing decisions.
In case I don't get back to the computer, I do wish all my readers a Merry Christmas.
