Something about anticipating a storm seems to invigorate people. Rice and cotton farmers worked all night to get crops out of the field. Of course, if cotton gets soaked, it's worthless, so the anxiety is understandable. And if the rice fields are too wet, the harvesting machinery can't get in to work. We hear predictions of up to 36 inches of rain over the next 5 days. Very little so far today, but the big storm is supposed to arrive tonight.
We have made soup, taken down things outside that could become flying objects, done the laundry, reassured our friends who are emailing us anxiously, talked to our children. A pot roast is thawing, to be cooked tomorrow. I rescheduled my physical therapy appointments for today and Monday, just in case. Maybe I'll bake some bread.
And now that I'm recovered from the hip replacement, it's time for a new project. I'm going to recycle a UFO begun years ago into a wall hanging for a new family member (let's see--how is a cousin's granddaughter related to me?) It may become an adventure. As long as the power stays on!
