I have finished two of the small quilts I painted there. The challenge now is to use the skills we practiced without appearing to be a weak imitation of Susan's style. This will take a bit of thought. In the meantime I have finally finished the memory quilt for granddaughter Rachel. This is a monster, about 100 inches square, to go on the high brass bed we bought long ago in Minneapolis. Son Phil has beautifully refinished the bed. Rachel's mother Kristi had saved all her baby and toddler clothes, providing the materials for all those on-point squares. I am very happy to have completed it. Tomorrow is the birthday I share with Phil; he and Kristi are coming to our house for the celebration and I can hand off the quilt and take a photo. Turkey is thawing, menu is planned--I'm heading downstairs to cook now.
