This is the revised upper left corner. I think it's an improvement.
Rick thought so too.
And the house painting is finished at last, my cold is going away, and I have my voice back after laryngitis. Not bad for a cold (for Texas) winter week.
SAQA, the Studio Art Quilt Association, will be having an auction of small quilts at its annual meeting in May. I just finished my 6" x 8" entry, titled "School", this evening. The little fish are fishing lures made out of wiggly plastic material, with big bulgy eyes, and I added some color with fabric paints. The underwater background is knitted yarn on greenish satin, with appliqued silk weeds. That's one task down. Yesterday I took three pieces to the photographer so I'll have the digital photos to enter a couple of exhibitions. That took up most of the day as traffic was pretty bad going in due to rain and just ordinary Houston congestion. I always enjoy working with photographer Rick Wells, who does a great job on my sometimes odd work. He's very good at catching shadows from holes in the work, and managing the reflection from metallic bits. I had been concerned about the uneven upper border on "Dinner at Rose and Carl's House," and decided to add some silver flatware in keeping with the theme. This is the revised upper left corner. I think it's an improvement. Rick thought so too. And the house painting is finished at last, my cold is going away, and I have my voice back after laryngitis. Not bad for a cold (for Texas) winter week.

Ohhhh! I like the addition of silver! But where, oh where is the knife that whacked our elbows when we were caught putting them on the table? Or the little butter knives, reminding us of all the Annabel hand-rolled butter balls we used to pilfer and eat? The richness of memories is matched by the beauty of this piece. Thank you, Bobbe!

Love both these pieces. I can't wait to see the whole of "Dinner at Rose and Carl's House."
