I've become increasingly interested in yellow. It takes over any scene. It vibrates. There's a wonderful painting by Frantisek Kupka, "The Yellow Scale", a self-portrait entirely in yellows done in 1907--really a master study; look it up. I don't know how one studies a color, except to look at how others have used it, and where it apppears in nature. And then fool around until I'm tired of it, I guess. So I will do that.
I've been working on some family quilts (some are surprises, so no photos yet). Then I was trying to downsize the closet and came upon a jumper of Indian cotton hopsack in black and white that I've grown to fat to wear. And remembered I had a couple of vibrant yellows in the stash, one of them a linen tablecloth I bought at Goodwill in California for $2.. So here is Yellow Arc #1, a 20" x 20" four patch. The colors are better in person, but I had a very good time making the improvisational Drunkard's Path blocks and then cutting them up again and adding more yellow. I'm not sure I'd have the curved arrow thingys if I did it again--a different configuration might be better. That's why I plan to do a number of yellow arcs, and see how my design progresses. I think #2 will be a jacket. This assumes that the thermometer will drop below 100 F within my lifetime, so I can wear it.

i love this post! You're sounding more and more like you're really owning your identity as an artist. It's wonderful what can happen when you have time to give to something you care about. Also, I kind of like the curvy arrows...
