Seeking to escape that guilty feeling, I headed east to nearby Sealy to get a few groceries. Just a few miles out I had to pull off the road in brilliant sunshine to photograph the clouds ahead.
Aren't they gorgeous? The sun was so bright on the highway that I couldn't see anything in the viewfinder of my cell phone, so I just aimed and shot. Within ten minutes I was in the middle of a heavy rain shower; no wind, fortunately. I drove slowly to WalMart and sat in the car until it slacked off enough to get out.
Much of Texas has been getting torrential rains for the past couple of weeks. There is some dramatic flooding not far from Eagle Lake, but none in the city so far. Whenever one plans any sort of trip, the first question is "Are the roads open?" We shall see what happens next week, when I have several day trips scheduled.
