This week I decided to try something with the many strings.
Discovered "I need something like a loom. But not a real loom. I need a big piece of foamcore." So on a trip to Walmart, found what I needed. Thought some more.
See? Something like a loom, so I can weave the strings together. I worked on this for several days, until I pretty much ran out of strings.
Not really. There are still quite a lot of strings in a bag, but the volume is significantly diminished. And the weaving was serene, without too many technical challenges (like joining strings when one ran short). I remember a trip to Lowell MA years ago, when we visited the Boote Mill and saw the incredibly noisy weaving room, and read about the mill girls joining threads when a spool ran out. It's an old tradition.
I like the colors here. It's a big, somewhat heavy and long mat. While weaving, the back of my brain figured out what to do with it when finished: distort it.
