I need to get it done and move on--there are a couple of exhibitions I want to enter; much work to be done.
Last evening I finished hand stitching the binding and labels on the gilding the skies lectern hangings. I discovered that the pink blossoms stitching got lost in the vivid greens, so added a light wash of a combination of pink, lavender and gold paint to the altar frontal and the hangings in the main blossom areas. It really made a difference--much more vivid, and it enhances the "dawn" idea. So these are done, except for putting some Velcro on the back to hold them in place (haven't been able to find my Velcro stash, so I'll have to go out and buy some). Now I'm starting on the stole for the priest. This can't be made of the gessoed artist canvas, as it's too stiff. I think I'll piece the stole in a spectrum of greens, then do the blossom stitching on top. I have some really nice hand-dyes from the Folk Festival, as well as a couple of silks and some commercial prints. People from the church were here last Thursday for a dinner meeting, and they really liked what I had done; I'm looking forward to putting all this up in the little church very soon.
